Professor Kleiner won Boston University’s Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002 and has twice received the Distinguished Teaching Prize of the College of Arts & Sciences Honors Program. He has served five terms as Chair of the Department of History of Art & Architecture (1981-1985, 2005-2014) and is one of the three founding members of BU’s Department of Archaeology. Professor Kleiner was Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Archaeology from 1985 to 1998 and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
